Eos Global Expansion

How do energy companies reduce costs and comply with international tax and labor laws?

Company Y’s Challenge

Company Y, a Fortune 500 leader in the oil and gas industry with a global presence, faced significant logistical challenges. Like many energy firms, Company Y worked on numerous projects worldwide with uncertain project durations. As such, they needed to relocate 300+ experts to the Philippines for three months, South Korea for a year, and Japan for another year. Given the urgency of the deployments, it was crucial for Company Y to meet timelines and budgets while ensuring compliance with local labour laws.

Eos’ Solution

Eos provided comprehensive support to Company Y by leveraging its expertise in various tax regimes and structuring opportunities to minimize costs compliantly. Eos provided guidance on the optimal structuring of employee and contractor contracts from a global perspective.

Additionally,  Eos was also able to manage the visa process across all three countries efficiently. In Japan, where strict immigration policies often lead to delays, Eos’s status as a fast-track company allowed them to secure necessary visas within a few weeks—much faster than the typical processing time. In South Korea, where visa sponsorship is complicated by local hire quotas and capital requirements, Eos provided a workaround by having the end client sponsor the visas, which were then transferred to Eos for employment.

Eos’s scalable solutions can support projects of any size, from individual long-term assignments to extensive deployments. This flexibility allowed Eos to efficiently manage the large-scale relocation of workers required by Company Y. Eos’s local HR/Payroll experts provided Company Y with accurate, timely, compliant payments across all locations; and answers to their technical questions. By prioritising prompt responses and clear communication, Eos ensured that Company Y projects remained on track and within budget constraints.

Eos also ensured compliance with local labour laws and assisted Company Y by facilitating accommodation and transport for relocated employees.

Shared Success

Through Eos’ support, Company Y successfully deployed their team on time, within budget, with a satisfied client and content workers. They advised that this was key to their clients’ confidence to award them further remote projects in future.

This strategic collaboration allowed Company Y to focus on their projects without distractions while Eos handled the complexities of international tax and local labour law compliance.
