Eased Travel Rules for Chinese Residents to Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR

The National Immigration Administration (NIA) of Mainland China has recently announced several significant policy changes aimed at facilitating the travel of Mainland Chinese residents to Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR. This is effective May 15, 2024.

These updates present new opportunities and advantages for businesses considering expansion into these regions.

1. Mainland Chinese residents from 20 cities can now apply online to replace or reissue their immigration documents.

2. Mainland Chinese residents can now apply for business endorsements at any public security bureau in Mainland China, rather than having to go to the location of their Chinese sponsor’s entity registration.

3. The programme now includes six additional categories of talents (outstanding, scientific research, cultural and educational, health, legal, and management talents) from Beijing and Shanghai.

4. The allowable stay for business endorsement holders has been extended from 7 days to 14 days.

Expanding into China, Hong Kong, or Macau is now more accessible and advantageous than ever.
